Altar is the vision of founder Cassie Ridgway, whose passion for sustainably produced and ethically manufactured clothing has transformed a labor of love into a movement defined by purpose. Inspired by desert color palettes, moody florals, art deco filigrees, and the bold lines of modern art, Cassie shapes collections that are as fluid as her evolving aesthetic. As advocates of “objects with meaning,” Altar champions independent North American makers, bringing their narratives to life through small-batch, deadstock-crafted apparel made for sizes S through 6XL. Most of Altar’s products are handcrafted in their Portland studio, with additional production supported by long-trusted factory partners in Los Angeles (Fashion Frankie Incorporated, Coldwater Inc, AAA Grading and Marking, and Leslie Gless Pattern and Development) that are family-owned and have proudly served the design community for decades. Beyond their studios, Altar leans into innovation with Recovo, extending the life of deadstock fabrics to champion circularity in fashion, and with every order placed, they team up with Greenspark to rescue 10 plastic bottles from the ocean. Small but mighty, Altar proves that fashion and purpose actually can walk hand in hand.
