KORISSA
About
KORISSA creates handmade home goods that are equal parts beautiful and purpose-built, crafted with natural fibers and powered by fair trade practices in Bangladesh. The brand began in 2017 after co-founder Angela moved from New York to Bangladesh for work where she met a female social entrepreneur who worked for a NGO and World Fair Trade organization supporting women impacted by poverty and gender-based violence in Dhaka’s slums. Today, KORISSA partners with four artisan organizations across Bangladesh, building long-term relationships that preserve heritage craftsmanship while expanding access to fair wages, secure work, and broader markets. From women artisans in northern Bangladesh who work with jute, seagrass baskets from partners like BHS, terracotta pieces that are meticulously crafted in southwest Bangladesh, and bags that are handmade through the Women’s Development Organization Bangladesh, every purchase allows practical support for artisans building new possibilities. The result is a collection of thoughtful, low-waste goods that honor craft, protect the planet, and uplift vulnerable communities.
Values
Fair Trade, Handmade, Transparent, Womxn-Owned, and Small Batch
