KORISSA

About The Brand

KORISSA's journey commenced in 2017 when Angela, one of its co-founders, embarked on a journey from New York to Bangladesh to join a family business. During her year-long stay in Bangladesh, she crossed paths with a social entrepreneur who worked for a non-governmental (NGO) and World Fair Trade organization. The organization dedicated itself to alleviating poverty, fostering social responsibility through fair trade practices, and empowering women who had endured gender-based violence in the slums of Dhaka. They achieved this noble mission by crafting exquisite handmade items from jute, seagrass, and locally sourced natural fibers. Moved by their vision, Nora and Angela resolved to establish KORISSA, driven by the ambition to offer environmentally and socially responsible handmade goods. Their aim was to inspire mindful consumption among modern shoppers. Four years down the line, KORISSA stands tall, having forged partnerships with four artisan organizations in Bangladesh, all adhering to fair trade principles. At KORISSA, fostering enduring relationships with artisans is not just a goal, but a cornerstone of their mission. Together, they strive to preserve cultural heritage while ensuring fair wages, expanding market reach, and nurturing sustainable livelihoods. Committed to reducing consumption and minimizing waste, KORISSA embraces eco-friendly, sustainable materials and production methods.
