LIKHÂ was born from a moment of discovery and a refusal to accept injustice as “just the way things are.” Founded in 2018, the brand began when its founder, then living in New York, struggled to find a well-made mortar and pestle at a fair price. While visiting family in the Philippines, she found the perfect one sold by a local artisan for far less than its true worth. What started as delight quickly turned into resolve: to help bridge the gap between skilled makers and a global market willing to value their work properly. LIKHÂ, meaning “to create” in Tagalog, is a celebration of artistry, tradition, and the people behind every piece. As a social enterprise, the brand partners with underserved artisan communities across the Philippines, where many makers live in rural areas with limited access to resources and global visibility. Each product is designed in close collaboration with artisans and crafted by hand using natural, eco-friendly materials like plant fibers, coco coir, sustainably sourced shells, natural straw, and recycled wood. The result is functional art that blends time-honored techniques with thoughtful, modern design.
