GOEX
About the brand
GOEX, the brand connecting customers and makers through a simple tee, is unwavering in its commitment to providing fair-wage jobs that liberate workers from poverty and empower them within their families and communities. Prioritizing better pay, GOEX extends fair wages to workers in both Kansas City and Haiti, where, on average, one worker supporting a fair wage also supports six family members. Proudly passing the Fair Trade Federation’s rigorous screening, GOEX adheres to the nine FTF principles, ensuring integrity in its practices. The brand's origins date back to 2010 in Gulu, Uganda, with a woman named Lucy, who had a sewing center but lacked work. GOEX's parent organization, The Global Orphan Project, stepped in, providing Lucy with work sewing school uniforms and other items. This initiative not only granted Lucy dignity but also supported her family and transformed stories from charity to empowerment. GOEX Apparel builds upon this foundation, inviting US consumers to contribute to global family strengthening and job creation programs. The brand emphasizes that a simple purchase decision holds the power to change lives, facilitating a shift from charity to empowerment. Recently joining the Haiti Artisan Collective, GOEX unites with like-minded brands to support makers in Haiti through the dignity of work. Despite challenges in a tough economic landscape with rising unemployment rates and increased difficulty in navigating the country, fair-wage jobs remain pivotal for artisans. Yet, these artisans persist, feeling cared for and respected by their employers, as a job provides them with freedom and power. Choosing GOEX means more than selecting a better shirt; it means contributing to a better world.
