Founded by Charlotte Evans in 2019, Elkie & Co. emerged as a creative outlet amid the complexities of being a wife and mother of five. Inspired by the chaos of managing a messy diaper bag and the subsequent challenges of cleaning it, Charlotte embarked on a journey to design a diaper bag that not only exuded beauty and luxury on the outside but also offered washable convenience on the inside. Family lies at the heart of Elkie & Co., evident even in its name, which is an amalgamation of the first letters of each of Charlotte's daughters' names in birth order—(E)mma, (L)ydia, (K)ate, and (I)vy. The "(E)vans & co." represents the rest of the family. This small, family-run business actively involves the children in the process, with a 2-year-old playfully running around during shipping, a 5-year-old advocating for a hot pink bag, and a 10-year-old assisting with packaging materials on the changing mats. Elkie & Co.'s mission is clear: to craft timeless products for women that embody durability, beauty, functionality, and ease of cleaning. Every product is meticulously designed in Overland Park, KS, and custom-made in China, maintaining strong relationships with manufacturers and adhering to international labor standards.
